INGREDIENTS
1 lb of frozen puff pastry
1 lb of reineta apples
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 oz of sugar
1/2 tbsp of powdered cinnamon
1 tbsp of raisins
3 oz of grated cheese
Milk
Sugar for icing
PREPARATION
Preheat the oven to 392° F.
Extend half of the puff pastry on a dusted surface and line a 9 inch bread pie.
Peel, remove the seeds from the apples and cut them into thin segments. Place half on the puff pastry, immediately soak with half of the lemon juice and sprinkle with half of the sugar and cinnamon.
Add half of the raisins. Place another layer of apples and repeat the previous operation. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
Baste the edges of the puff pastry with milk, extend the remaining pastry and place on top of the apple and cheese filling.
Trim the puff pastry with a sharp knife according to the mold brim. Press on the pastry edges.
Extend the puff pastry trimmings and cut sheets or diamonds to paste the bread pie with a little of milk. Baste the surface with milk and sprinkle a little of sugar.
Bake for 20 minutes, turning the bread pie to bake it evenly.
Reduce the oven temperature to 360° F and cook for another 20 minutes until the apples are tender-
It can be served warm or cold.
